Description
Strawberry simple syrup is a beloved kitchen staple that adds a delightful burst of sweetness and fruity flavor to both beverages and desserts. This homemade syrup is made using fresh strawberries, sugar, and water. It’s perfect for everything from cocktails to desserts, offering a natural sweetness and vibrant color.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g fresh strawberries
- 200g or 1 cup sugar
- 240ml or 1 cup water
Instructions
- Wash the strawberries thoroughly and remove the green tops. Slice them into halves or quarters.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and water. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The strawberries will break down and release their juice.
- Once the syrup has simmered and the strawberries are soft, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a clean container to remove the solids.
- Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before transferring it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator.
Notes
Customize with optional add-ins like lemon juice, vanilla extract, or mint for extra flavor variations.
