  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (green or purple)
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 1/2 cup salsa (tomato, mango, or pineapple salsa)
  • 1/4 cup cotija cheese (optional)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

  • Sour cream or creamy dressing (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Rub the halibut fillets with olive oil and coat with the seasoning mix (chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper).
  • Place the seasoned halibut fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily when touched with a fork.
  • Once the fish is cooked, use a fork to break it into bite-sized pieces.
  • Warm your tortillas by heating corn tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for 30 seconds per side or microwaving flour tortillas for 10-20 seconds.
  • To assemble, layer a generous amount of flaked halibut in the center of each tortilla.
  • Add shredded cabbage, slices of avocado, cilantro, red onion, and a spoonful of salsa to each taco.
  • Sprinkle cotija cheese on top if desired and squeeze fresh lime juice over everything.

  • Serve with a dollop of sour cream or creamy dressing if desired.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add sliced jalapeños or a few dashes of hot sauce.

  • You can customize your salsa by experimenting with fruits or vegetables like mango or pineapple.
